Today is day 2 of our modified juice fast..we are hungry, tired, and wanting more food! We felt great the first morning when we had a juice that contained 4 carrots and 1 apple - yummy! I even felt like I didn't need a coffee... but I did get one since my hubs is a Starbucks barista and I get really bad headaches without caffeine... not too much taken away at once, right?..
We had a green drink for lunch (which I spilled all over our stove - did I mention it's an old stove and I can't take the top off to really clean it?..hopefully I got it all!) Then I went to the store to get more fruits and veggies for the next few days and it was.. gasp! $50 for 2 days worth! We decided we will continue with a super modified juice fast because that is just too much to pay right now. We will juice in the am along with oatmeal or an egg, spinach salad for lunch with a fruit/green juice, snacks of nuts of our choosing, and chicken and veggies for dinner. Basically it's a low carb diet with juice supplements.
We've been wanting to cut out breads, crackers, cookies, candies, and sweets for some time now. I really think supplementing with juices will help our taste buds crave healthier things - if we can get past the 2nd day without cheating!
PS - This morning we had my favorite juice yet: 1 apple, 1 pear, and 12-15 strawberries - tasted like heaven!
A little side note - Emmrie is almost 10 months and just started scooting around coffee tables. :) She'll be walking in no time and I am scared because I am already chasing her everywhere! How exciting it is to watch her grow in development, though!

First blog ever :)
2011 has been a year full of newness, excitement, fear, and awe of God! My husband and I welcomed our 1st baby girl Emmrie to the world March 8th and September 19th we celebrated our 2nd year of marriage. We had moved back from Oregon right before the start of 2011, found a place to live and bring our baby home to, Christopher started college again, and by the end of the year the Lord had shown him what his direction in school ought to be - ministry. We are about to embark on a completely new and unfamiliar journey as we head into 2012. :)
We have decided to attempt a modified juice fast for 30 days this January and we start tomorrow, the 2nd. I am going to be blogging my food intake and exercise program while we are on it in hopes to keep myself on track. :) I will include recipes I attempt with fresh fruits, veggies, and proteins. We are starting a read through the Bible in a year program together and I'll be journaling my new insights on scripture and God's heart. Lastly and so importlantly, I will be keeping track of the things I learn as a new parent to our beautiful Emmrie. Feel free to follow along on our new adventure in holistic living! Welcome to A Sacred Heart :)
